Cardinal Health Signs Agreement with Cosmetrex to Distribute Procedure Packs, Surgical Apparel to Cosmetic Surgery Centers

08/28/2007

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Cardinal Health, a global provider of products and services that improve the safety and productivity of healthcare, today announced a three-year agreement with Cosmetrex, a group purchasing organization uniquely focused on cosmetic surgeons and their practices, to provide custom procedure packs and surgical apparel to cosmetic surgeons and outpatient surgery centers in the United States.

Under the agreement, Cardinal Health will manufacture and distribute to Cosmetrex members its line of Convertors® infection control products including drapes, gowns, facial protection, caps and shoe covers, as well as its Rechargeable Surgical Clipper System. Cardinal Health will also manufacture and distribute to Cosmetrex members its Presource® custom and standard procedure packs, including Presource® Cosmetic Surgery Packs, which were introduced earlier this year.

“This agreement with Cardinal Health is a terrific development for Cosmetrex’s rapidly growing list of cosmetic surgery customers, and demonstrates Cosmetrex’s commitment to providing supply chain solutions that reduce costs and promote efficiencies,” said Cosmetrex president and CEO Lee Perlman. “Cardinal Health’s extensive supply chain expertise and its commitment to working with customers to improve patient safety and productivity made it the obvious choice to help our members by supplying quality procedure packs and surgical apparel.”

The agreement is an extension of Cardinal Health’s existing medical-surgical supply distribution relationship with Cosmetrex, and comes just one month after Cardinal Health announced the launch of Presource® Cosmetic Surgery Packs. The prepackaged kits provide the core surgical components needed for common cosmetic surgery procedures including liposuction, abdominoplasty, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facial rhytidectomy, breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift.

“With an annual growth rate of more than 10 percent a year, cosmetic surgery is one of the fastest-growing segments of the surgical industry,” said Mike Kaufmann, president of healthcare supply chain services for Cardinal Health. “We’re excited to help Cosmetrex’s cosmetic surgery customers improve patient safety and productivity with our industry-leading line of Presource® custom procedure packs and Convertors® apparel.”

For product information, Cardinal Health customers should contact their hospital supply sales representative. Information is also available by calling Cardinal Health at (800) 766-0706, extension 3462.
