DELAND, Fla — The DeLand Surgery Center was purchased by Florida Hospital DeLand for $1.7 million on Sept. 30. Set to reopen in 2009, the 9800-square-foot medical center, located across the street from the main hospital building, will house all outpatient gastrointestinal procedures. The new location will provide comprehensive gastrointestinal (GI) services for patients include peptic ulcers, malignancies, reflux and heartburn, pancreatic and liver ailments, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). “With the new location, we can facilitate comprehensive GI diagnostic procedures from colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy to upper endoscopy,” said Paul Goldberg, MD, a gastroenterologist with Digestive Health Specialist, PA. The center’s staff will include four board-certified gastroenterologists, David Elijah, MD, Paul Goldberg, MD, Bharat Patel, MD and Martin Prado, MD. Along with preventative and therapeutic measures to care for patients, outstanding service, convenient hours and the latest technology are among the other benefits patients can expect to experience at the new center. “With the purchase of this building, we are able to provide enhanced services to the DeLand community. The purchase was made as an investment to better serve the needs of our patients, as we continue to deliver first-class healthcare close to home,” said Steve Otto, chief operating officer at Florida Hospital DeLand.
