CARROLLTON, Ga. — Greenway Medical Technologies Inc. is proud to announce that Palm Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology in Palm Beach, Fla., a Greenway customer since 2006, recently won the Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence in ambulatory electronic health records (EHR). The award, sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), encourages and recognizes excellence in the implementation of EHR systems and recognizes healthcare provider organizations that successfully use EHRs to improve healthcare delivery. It is considered to be the most prestigious health information technology (HIT) award in the industry. The Davies Award of Excellence was first given in 2003 for primary care practices. In 2006, the award was expanded to include all ambulatory physician practices. It was created to honor Nicholas Davies, MD, an Atlanta-based physician who was committed to improving patient care through the better management of health information technology. Palm Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology's successful deployment of Greenway's flagship EHR solution, PrimeSuite, resulted in improvements to the practice's workflow whereby the clinical, financial and administrative processes were all streamlined, improving productivity throughout the organization. By implementing PrimeSuite, the practice also experienced a significant return on investment of more than $125,000 in its first full year with the solution. "We are very proud and honored to have Palm Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology as a Greenway customer," said Justin Barnes, vice president of marketing and government affairs at Greenway. "The practice is a testament to the benefits of EHR and HIT adoption, and we wish them continued success and growth." "The Davies Award of Excellence is the culmination of three years of hard work and determination by the physicians and staff of Palm Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology," said managing partner, Samuel Lederman, MD. "The deployment of EHR technology improved nearly every aspect of our practice." "All of our Davies Award winners have excelled in the value derived from their EHRs, improving quality outcomes and workflow efficiencies they never could have accomplished with paper," said David Collins, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, director of the HIMSS Davies Award Program. "We are pleased to honor these practices as they epitomize the significance and effectiveness of technology to better the healthcare industry." Source: Greenway Medical Technologies Inc.
