Surgical Hospitals: Help PHA Help You!

In response to the pending Senate Appropriations Bill, Physician Hospitals of America (PHA) and its lobbyists are asking for answers to the following three questions:

1. In 2007, what Percentage of your hospital's charges were Medicare and Medicaid claims?

2. What amount did your hospital pay in Federal and State Income Tax in 2007?

3. Please make a list or write a paragraph explaining the variety of community and charitable projects with which your hospital has been or is involved. (For example: actual charity care, bad debt, charitable giving to outside non-profits, involvement in community project such as a blood bank or community rebuilding project, or state project such as a partnership to treat the elderly, etc., contracts with the state to provide Medicaid care to a specific needy population, contracts to provide typically unprofitable care, etc.)

The advocacy effort is moving swiftly, according to PHA executive director, Molly Sandvig, JD; so responses are sought to be returned by the end of this week.
