La. Insurer Buys Monroe Surgical

Monroe Surgical hospital will become a part of Vantage Health Plan, as the Louisiana based insurer has exercised its option to buy the facility, according to The Monroe (La.) News Star.

In 2006, Vantage secured a three-year option to buy Monroe Surgical when it was financially struggling as well as in as effort to keep St. Francis Medical from monopolizing the market, the newspaper reported.

Vantage executives said they will be able to provide Monroe Surgical with higher surgery volumes as well as customer incentive as they will allow the facility to waive up to $300 in patients' costs.
